Ilori, who was speaking on behalf of the family, explained that the gesture was designed to support the students to enable them settle down in school, adding that some parents were unable to provide exercise books for their children, and that this would hinder these children from concentrating on their studies.

She said “last year, when it was exactly a year that we lost our caring mother, we organized free health outreach where hundreds of patients were treated in different type of illnesses and given drugs.

“This year, we decided to embark on the distribution of books to the students so as to help them in the pursuit of their academic programmes.

“We were able to identify schools in our environment and we look for what we felt they will need.

She advised the students to make use of every opportunity to become something better in future and put in a lot of efforts to achieve their dreams.

“We are teaching them so that when they grow up, they will be willing to give to others and realise that it is only through the act of giving that can help our environment.

“They should also be focused in what they are doing and know that there are people who don’t have, so when they grow up, they can add value to the society rather than hinder the economy.” she said

Speaking, Supervisor, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Adelani Baderinwa said, with the gesture, the family has demonstrated goodwill and promoted the educational system in the state.

Baderinwa who shed lights on the importance of education urged the student to face their studies squarely to play a better role in the future.

Earlier, Principal, Ila-orangun Government High School, Mr Lasis Kolawole appreciated the Akandes for their kind gesture, saying their laudable contributions to education, especially in Ila, would continue to linger in the mind of the people of the area.

He commended the effort of the past administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola for the construction of a modern building and conducive environment just as he also appreciated members of the family towards the development of the school.
