Service Delivery: Osun Govt Trains Local Govt Staff

The Osun State Government has restated its commitment to train and retrain its local government staff for effective service delivery and optimal productivity.
Elder Tunde Adedeji, Chairman, Osun State Local Government Service Commission(OSLGSC), said this on Monday, during the opening ceremony of a 3 day capacity building workshop for Efficient and Effective Administration for Heads of Administration and Finance in the Local Government Councils.
Adedeji said that the importance of training and retraining of the staff could not be over-emphasised, stressing that improving workers’ capacity was crucial to the development of any society.
He noted that training was necessary to widen the horizons of workers on all issues relating to to discipline, work ethics, as well as rules and regulations and regulations guiding the day to day conduct of public officers in the service.
Adedeji opined that it is important for management staff to be skillful in handling matters connected with financial management and internal control at the Local Government level. This he said will help in judicious utilization of government resources.
The Commission’s chairman then advised the participants to imbibe good leadership qualities and inculcate the principles of time management while discharging their duties.
He commended the State governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola for making the welfare of civil servants his priority.
Speaking earlier, the managing consultant of Stephen Jolaolu Global Consult, Mr Oluwole Fajuyitan explained that the roles placed on Heads of Administration and Finance in the Local Government Councils ,requires concise,accurate and prompt decision making saying the ability to make right decision will go a long way to enable the downtrodden enjoy the dividend of democracy.
