Tension as NDLEA officials kill headmaster in Nasarawa
Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Sunday allegedly shot dead a primary schoolteacher, Abubakar Inusa, in Nunku community, in the Akwanga Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
A witness, who did not want his name in print, told journalists that the NDLEA officials invaded the community at about 8pm and shot sporadically into the air.
He said during the shooting, Inusa was hit by a bullet in the head and he died.
It was gathered that an identity card belonging to one Hassan Musa Abdullahi, a senior narcotics officer, was recovered at the scene of the shooting. Also found was a bag containing Indian hemp and handcuffs.
The state Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Bello, who confirmed the incident, said it took the intervention of the police and the traditional ruler of Mada lan, the Chun Mada, Samson Yare, to quell the unrest that trailed the killing on Sunday.
“The roads were barricaded again on Monday, but the police persuaded the youths to reopen them,” Bello added.
When our correspondent visited the Nasarawa command of the NDLEA, the commandant, Mr. Sumaila Ethan, was said to have traveled.
