A group of youth in All Progressives Congress,
APC, in Oyo state, has frowned at the Senator Abiola
Ajimobi’s directive that House of Reps Members elects in the state should support a member of the National Assembly from Lagos state Hon Femi Gbajabiamila against the wish of the state to produce the next speaker.

Senator Ajimobi had at a private meeting held at his Oluyole resident with some members elect direct the lawmakers to support Hon Gbajabiamila as the speaker.

But in a swift reaction, the group under the aegis
of Itesiwaju Oyo said the governor’s directive is not only a bad decision but a further demonstration of his disdain for the growth of internal democracy in the party and the state.

The group made their position known in a press statement signed by Adetunji Yaqub and Oluseyi Micheal and made available to journalists in Ibadan.

It is quite absurd that Mr Governor who should be spearheading how Oyo state will produce the 9th Assembly House of Reps speaker which has been zoned to south west by the party is the one mobilizing for candidates of another state when the state has ranking lawmakers that are qualified to be the speaker.

“Oyo state has three high ranking lawmakers including Hon Olajide Olatubosun from Saki, Hon Akeem Adeyemi from Oyo and Hon Segun Dokun
Odebunmi from Surulere who has also been
enjoying maximum support from lawmakers and
stakeholders from other states to be speaker”.

“Mr Governor should be reminded that Oyo state he was not been lucky to win the state for his party candidate at the last election which means the state needs key position and appointments from the Federal government to maintain the balance”

Lagos is already crowded with a series of key appointments ranging from Minister, Head of Agencies and Federal Board among others and Oyo state has not been privileged to enjoy 1/3 of this since the creation of the state and we want to urge governor Ajimobi to have a rethink and consider the need to fight for the interest of Oyo state beyond May 29, 2019.

While urging the governor and other stakehokders
to use their connection to fight for better position
for Oyo state.
