I Cannot Be Intimidated Because Of Gang Up And Other Event.-APC Guber Candidate
By Olusakin Babalola, Ibadan
Chief Adebayo Adelabu ,the governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC,) in Oyo State boldly said that recent political development in Oyo state are not enough to intimidate him.
Apparently referring to merger talks by the main opposition leaders and the defeat of Governor Abiola Ajimobi during the last election, the APC candidate declared that he would win in the gubernatorial race coming up next week.
Speaking during an interaction with news men in Ibadan ,Chief Adelabu said that he heard of meetings between other c a candidates which were aimed at defeating him.
The politicians stated that they were proposing to merge because of his antecedents and popularity of his programmes and manifesto.
He described the gang up as a plot that would fail pointing out that they are strange bed fellows who have not imvested in the lives of the people they plan to
He maintained most of the politicians in the state and Nigeria in general do not like to invest in their home states because of fear of attack of their investments, family members and property by the people who know the locations of their investments “when they mess up”.
Adelabu who insisted that core politicians in the state have no or little investments in the state, maintained that he decided to invest in the state over the years because he has nothing to fear
“I have investments in Oyo state more than any of them. I have been investing in the state over the years. Go and cheek. I have a foundation that is taking care of the aged, I have been given scholarship to students for many years and I have investments across the state. I have investments in the state more than any of them who said he want to govern the state.
“But, I decided to join politics because of the love for the people. I am not mad. How can you leave certainty for uncertainty? I left my position as CBN Deputy Governor (Operations) for politics. I will not resign if I don’t stand a chance.
Adelabu while insisting that he was not moved by the gang up of the opposition political parties in the state, maintained that the APC will still beat all the opposition political parties even if they join force and become one.
“Forged about social media noise. We are competing against people who have contested before. I will be surprised if Seyi Makinde of PDP get 100,000 votes. People are not mad, they know what they want. They know the people they want to vote for.
