Osun NUJ Chairman, NAN Correspondent,Bag FIWON Award
Mr Joshua Oladipo, a Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osun, on Thursday bagged 2019 Federation of Informal Workers Organisation (FIWON) award of execellence.
Oladipo was awarded for his immenced contribution through fair and balanced reportage on issues affecting Informal sectors in the state.
Mr Kehinde Ayantunji, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Mr Ismail Alagbada, a former Commerce and Industry Commissioner also bagged award of execellence for their contributions to the sector.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the award ceremony was on the sideline of the inauguration of FIWON Tax Advocacy Group (FITAG) held in Osogbo.
In his remarks, Mr Ibrahim Olayinka, FIWON State Coordinator, commended the awardees for their support towards the growth of informal sector in the State.
Olayinka praised NAN and its reporters in the state for effective and balanced reportage of informal sector and other activities in the state.
He commended the State Government for supporting its members through empowerment programmes, loans and grants among other benefits.
Olayinka charged the informal workers to reciprocate the gesture shown to them by the state government through payment of their taxes.
In his acceptance speech, Oladipo commended FIWON for counting him worthy of the honour, adding that NAN would continue to be objective and balanced in its report.
He also thanked the NAN management for their support given to him to excel in his career.
In his remarks, Ayantunji, NUJ Chairman commended FIWON for the award with a promise that journalists in the state would continue to be upright in their reportage.
Also speaking, another awardee, Alagbada, a former Commissioner thanked the group for the award, saying the importance of Informal Workers, who constitute more 60 per cent of the population in the state could be over emphasised. (NAN)
