Gov. Lalong Urge Farmer’s to Key into CBN’s Anchor Borrower Scheme

The Plateau state Governor, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong has urged Plateau farmers to key into the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Anchor Borrower scheme to reduce poverty and create employment to the youths and women who are interested in agricultural sector.
Represented by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Yakubu Dati at the Plateau Agricultural Development Projects, PADP, Dutsa Kudu, Jos North Local Government Area, Lalong said the farming for which fertilizers, herbicides and water pumping machines which have been disbursed to over 30,000 beneficiaries in Plateau state to address the plight of farmers, is gradually yielding positive result.
He said that government in partnership with the CBN under the scheme aims to diversify the economy, adding that 12,000 farmers in the three senatorial districts of the state are now enjoying rice, potatoes and crops farming without hitches.
Lalong said the strategic plan put in place is gradually yielding positive impact and very soon, Plateau state would start exporting rice, potatoes and other farm produce.
He disclosed that the government is working hard to develop the Heipang Airport to Cargo airport as a way of promoting agriculture production within the state and neighboring states.
