Osinbajo Flags-off Ganduje’s Vulcanizers And Tricycle Operators Empowerment Programme
….Launches MSME clinic In Kano
Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has urged states in the federation to emulate Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s youth and women empowerment programmes.
He made this call when he launched the 640 Vulcanizers and 440 Tricyle Operators Training and Empowerment programme of the Kano state government at the Coronation Hall, Government House late Thursday evening.
He described the programme as a 21st Century programme, saying it would provide brighter future not only for Kano state but Nigeria, if taken seriouly by the beneficiaries.
He commended the governor’s foresight in initiating the programme and for providing the tools, start- up capital and facilitating garages for the trainees.
“Let me tell you, this opportunity is a very great one indeed, and I want you to take good advantage of it so that when you are finished, you can train other people not only in Kano but in every other state in Nigeria. You must then be able to train people from Lagos; we will send people from Anambra state, from Imo state here, to Kano for special training. I want you to take this programme so seriously so that you can be the trainers of the future,”
Professor Osinbajo asserted .
Governor Ganduje said the state government’s Vulcanizers and Tricycles Operators programmes was aimed at consolidating the federal government’s empowerment initiatives, pointing out the state government had also initiated other empowerment programmes to make the youths active economic players.
“The state government decided to train vulcanisers and mechanics, deploying new technology in order to improve their skills”, he streesed adding that the selected artisans would be trained by Indian professionals while free tools and start-up capital would be provided to them by the state government.
According to him, the state was among those with the highest number of tricycle operators hence, the government decided to train them so as to improve transport efficency.
Meanwhile , the Vice President launched the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Clinics for viable enterprises (MSME CLINICS) at the Indoor Sports Complex in Kano.
Secretary to Kano State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, said during the occasion that the Ganduje administration has committed huge resources to the development of MSME and poverty alleviation. The Vice president presented empowerment packages to outstanding enterprises during the occasion, which was attended by the minister of Interior, Gen. A.B. Dambazau, rtd, and Senator Barau Jibrin.
In another development, Professor Osinbajo inspected federal government’s solar power project at Abubakar Rimi Market, the state government flyover at Murtala Muhammad Way as well as the multi billion Naira ultra-modern interchange bridge at Dangi Roundabout.
He also inspected the Ultra-modern Skills Acquisition Centre along Zaria Road which is expected to be commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari later in the year.
