Teenager Weeps Bitterly As Court Remands Him Over Alleged Murder

A magistrate court sitting in Osogbo, the State capital of Osun has ordered the remand of an 18-year-old teenager, Emmanuel Alfa Paul for allegedly stabbing  his friend,  Ibrahim Yinusa to death  over misunderstanding that led to fight.

The Osun State police command arraigned Alfa Paul on Wednesday before Chief Magistrate O. A Ayilara on a count charge bordering on murder.

The prosecutor, Oladoye Joshua told the court that the suspect committed the offence on January 17 at about 12.30 pm at Idiroko Village Via Ifon –  Osun in Osun State.

Inspector Joshua stated that the suspect unlawfully killed  Ibrahim Yinusa by stabbing him on his chest which caused his death.

Prosecutor submitted that the offence committed is contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume 11. Laws of Osun State 2002.

The suspect plea was not taken due to the magnitude of the offence and he had no legal representation.

The magistrate, Chief Mr O. A Ayilara while ruling, ordered that the suspect be remanded in Ilesha prison custody.

He later adjourned the case till January 26 to be mentioned at Ifon- Osun Magistrate  court.

Meanwhile, when the boy was interviewed,  he said himself and the victim (Ibrahim Yinusa) were friends and that they were working on the same farm  when a misunderstanding arose between them which led to fisticuffs that eventually resulted to his death.

While Weeping, he regretted his action and said that he didn’t know the victims would latter die.
