Osun LG Election: Council Boss, APC Aspirants Seek Support, Commend Aregbesola On Parliamentary System Of Gov
The Executive Secretary, Ede North Local Government, Ede, Osun state, Barr Daud Akinloye, has described the parliamentary systems of government introduced by Governor Rauf Aregbesola at the local government level as the best system of government through which resources could be prudently managed.
Akinloye maintained that the presidential system which Nigeria is operating is too expensive for its economy to cope with, advocating for Parliamentary system which he said is less expensive.
The executive Secretary, who is also contesting as a parliamentarian representative of his ward in Ede North Local Area, said the adopted system would relieved contestants of the burdens of extended and extensive campaign across their various local governments, whereby saving cost.
The City mirror news, recalled that the the Chairman, Osun Independent Electoral Commission OSIEC, Mr Segun Oladitan has announced January 27, for the conduct of local government elections in the state.
Oladitan said, only councillor would be elected during state local government poll because the state would use the parliamentary system of government at the local government level.
This systems means a local government chairman (council chairman) would be elected from one of those that emerged as councillors.
Speaking with the newsmen during a campaign rally, Akinloye gave kudos to Governor Rauf Aregbesola for introducing the system, saying he has set pace for other Governors and even federal government to emulate.
Akinloye added that the system is good to reduce cost especially now that the nation is facing serious economic challenges
“This system would reduced the cost contestants would have incurred for campaign.
“For example I wouldn’t have contested for the local government election because of the money involved in campaign.
“If I will, I would have campaigned across the eleven local wards but this system has afforded me opportunity to limit my campaign to my ward.” he said.
Pledging to complement the efforts of Governor Aregbesola in his bid to transform the state, Akinloye said he would be provide the people of his local government adequate representation, if elected.
Also speaking on the election, Alhaji Ismail Adeniyi who is contesting as a parliamentarian representative of Ede North Area Council, promised proper representation, if voted.
Adeniyi, urged the people of the state to continue to support the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), in the state, saying it takes serious efforts of Governor Aregbesola to correct the mess which he said the opposition party has created in the past 16 years.
Adeniyi made the promise while addressing his supporters at a rally in Abere, Ede at the weekend.
He said he would do everything within his capacity to compliment the effort of Governor Rauf Aregbesola , in his bid to develop the state to a greater height.
The Ede born politician , however, vowed to supervise Aregbesola’s integral action plans if given the chance to serve.
Adeniyi also promised to deliver people oriented programmer, in line with the party’s manifestos, if elected.
Another contestant, Mr Musbau Ademola-Adeniran said there was need for continuity in the government in Osun, for the state to continue to enjoy dividend of democracy.
Adeniran who is contesting as the parliamentarian to represent his ward in Ede South local government area in the coming Saturday local government election, urged people of his constituency to cast their voted for him, saying he would give them proper representation, if elected.
I want to use this opportunity to urge my people to cast their vote for me because Ede South is one of the largest local government in Ede zone and I happen to be the only candidate who has other contenders from the opposition patties. He said.
He urged the electorate in the LCDA to come out enough mass to vote for him, with a promise that he would serve tg m diligently.
