Code Of Conduct Bureau, Mrs Kolawole Resumes

Staff were seen going about their normal duties even as the Acting Secretary, Mrs. Folasade Kolawole has resumed work and is fully in charge of the bureau.

A top director who allegedly masterminded the confusion was said to have calmed down after top Presidency officials warned him about the consequences of his activities contrary to the directive of the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

“Things are calming down. Except for the case in court, things are returning to normalcy. Our top management are billed to meet shortly and everybody is realising the need to support the Acting Secretary to move the bureau forward”, a top official confided.

Some staff had protested her recall alleging that she had retired from service. Officials records later showed that she did not retire as she withdrew her notice of resignation within the three months stipulated by the public service rules.

Her colleagues who craved anonymity because they were not directed to speak on the matter also noted that she offered to resign then because of undue pressure on her to bend the rule and dance to the whims and caprices of the former chairman.

“She refused to approve some funny things and she was suspended. She then angrily offered her resignation letter. Few days after, the court sacked the board, the chair for overstaying in office. She then wrote the SGF to return to service. And it was approved. Hence her resumption of duties”, the official said.

While Mrs. Kolawole has so far refused to speak to the media, her officials said the acting secretary is reaching out to all members of staff to ensure that the Bureau returns fully to normalcy.

“What happened during the week is over. It is an attempt to blackmail the Acting Secretary but the whole fact is now in public domain”, the source noted.
