Outstanding Arrears/Subventions : OSUSTECH Workers Threaten Strike, Give 21-Day Ultimatum

The Joint Action Congress of NAAT, Non Academic Staff Union of Universities(NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities(SSANU) of Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH) Okitipupa, Ondo State have issued a 21 working day ultimatum to the Ondo State Government on its unpaid arrears of subventions/Salaries and shortfall in subvention by government.
They vowed to embarked on an indefinite strike if the state government fails to meet their demands within the period of the ultimatum.
The ultimatum was issued at the union Congress held recently and signed by the chairman of NAAT,NASU and SSANU, Comrade David Bamigbola,Comrade Peter Akindehinde and Comrade Temidayo Temola respectively.
While reviewing the suspended national strike of the non academic staff over the non implementation of MOU signed with the Federal Government on 18th September 2017, the congress acknowledged the called off strike as directed by the leadership of JAC.
The congress also called on the visitor to the University, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu to consider the non existence of a governing Council for the University and put in place procedures to constitute one in order to fulfill the National Universities Commission Regulations.
“The Congress noted that the university has been without a governing council for too long as against the National Universities Commission regulation.
The Congress therefore appeal to the Visitor in the spirit of leadership and academic excellence to constitute the university governing council laying credence to competence, relevant qualification and the laws establishing the university,” the statement partly read.
