Security: Osun Youths Lauds Aregbesola Over NBS’s Ranking
Youths in Osun State have commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s effort in building and sustaining peace and security in the state, noting in particular his administration’s huge investment in institutions and agencies saddled with the protection of lives and properties.
Representatives of youths across the state who gave this commendation yesterday when they converged on the state capital, Osogbo, made reference to some security facilities recently acquired by the government and other peace building measures put in place by Aregbesola in his bid to ensure peace and security in the state.
The coordinator of the youth group, Adewale Aladejobi in a statement issued at the end of the meeting, lauded the governor for the purchase and distribution of 125 patrol vehicles to security agencies in the state and the provision of 25 fully equipped Armoured Personnel Carriers to the state Police Command.
Aladejobi also noted that the establishment of Citizens Mediation Centres across the state by the governor, saying that it would go a long way in promoting peace and harmony among indigenes and other residents, as well as increasing access to justice.
He appreciated Aregbesola for ‘continuously using his security vote’ to pay the salaries of the over 10,000 youths employed under the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES), the establishment of the state paramilitary outfit; Osun Sheriff Corps and the Traffic Marshal.
Aladejobi said apart from using the occasion to appreciate efforts of the governor in promoting peace, the youths were also celebrating the recent ranking of the state by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) as one of the most secured states in the federation, which in his view was the result of the governor’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secured environment through his investment in that direction.
The youths also commended security operatives in the state for cooperating with the governor by working restlessly to keep state safe
“There is peace and harmony all over the state which I believe is as a result of the governor’s commitment and his massive investment on security outfits across the state as well as the huge support he received from the leadership and members of these security outfits”, Aladejobi said.
