2027: LP’s Muhydeen Sets Out Legislative Agenda For Osun Central

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Labour Party (LP) senatorial candidate for Osun Central, Hon. Mustapha Adebayo Muhydeen, has unveiled a seven-point legislative and development agenda, promising to make constituency representation more responsive to the needs of the people.

Muhydeen, who formally declared his intention to contest the Osun Central Senatorial District seat, said his decision followed consultations with political leaders, party stakeholders, community elders, youths, women groups, family members and other stakeholders across the 10 local government areas that make up the district.

He said the consultations provided an opportunity to understand what constituents expect from whoever represents them at the National Assembly.

According to him, his proposed agenda is built around effective legislation, human capital development, economic empowerment, infrastructure, workers’ welfare, security and inclusive governance.

The LP candidate said the seven-point agenda would also prioritise giving constituents a stronger voice in national policymaking while pursuing interventions that could improve education, employment opportunities and livelihoods across the district.

He listed the pillars of the agenda as quality legislation and effective representation; youth empowerment and educational reform; economic revival and support for farmers and artisans; infrastructure and community development; workers’ welfare and good governance; security and peaceful coexistence; as well as inclusive governance for women and persons with disabilities.

Muhydeen said his aspiration was driven by the desire to serve rather than seek political power, describing his seven-point programme as a “covenant” with the people of Osun Central.

“My aspiration is not for power, but for service. I present to you a covenant of seven deliverables,” he said.

He added that his experience and energy would be deployed towards building a bridge between the younger and older generations, stressing that effective representation required constant engagement with constituents.

“Representation is not just about occupying a seat at the National Assembly. It is about listening to the people, articulating their interests and pursuing interventions that can improve their welfare,” he said.

The aspirant described his political project as “Irapada Osun Central”, saying the initiative was intended to reflect what he described as a collective aspiration for improved representation and development in the senatorial district.

Muhydeen further promised that, if elected, he would pursue policies and legislative interventions capable of expanding economic opportunities, strengthening education, promoting community development and encouraging peaceful coexistence among residents.

“I will be a voice that will be heard, a presence that will be felt, and a representative who will never abandon his people,” he said.

He appealed to leaders and members of the Labour Party, traditional rulers, community stakeholders and residents across Osun Central to support his aspiration as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum.
