Osun Must Not Burn, KRAD Urges Dialogue Over Confrontation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District, Mr. Kunle Rasheed Adegoke (KRAD), has appealed to the Osun State Government, political stakeholders, transport unions and youths to embrace dialogue in resolving disagreements capable of threatening peace in the state.

Adegoke, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), made the appeal in a statement in which he warned against allowing political and other disagreements to degenerate into violence.

The APC senatorial candidate said sustainable development could not take place in an atmosphere of chaos, stressing that violence would ultimately have negative consequences for the people of the state.

According to him, the collective interest of Osun should take precedence over political differences, while all parties involved in contentious issues should approach them with restraint and maturity.

He said, “What should be paramount in our minds as a state is how we will attract industries, increase Federal Government presence, and bring developmental projects to Osun to improve the lives of our people.”

Adegoke urged the government and other relevant stakeholders to create avenues for constructive engagement, saying political competition should not be allowed to undermine public peace or the economic wellbeing of citizens.

He also appealed to transport unions and youths across the state to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could escalate tensions.

“Enough is enough. We must not allow disagreements, however serious, to derail the peace and progress of our state. Nobody wins when violence prevails,” he said.

He added that the consequences of violence would ultimately be borne by ordinary residents whose businesses, livelihoods, education and future could be affected.

The senatorial candidate said Osun needed peace to attract investment, create employment opportunities, strengthen infrastructure and benefit from greater national development initiatives.

Adegoke therefore urged stakeholders to choose dialogue and cooperation in addressing disagreements, reaffirming his commitment to what he described as a peaceful, united and economically vibrant Osun State.
