Osun NUJ Celebrates Olowu Of Kuta, Hails Monarch At 14th Coronation Anniversary

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, has congratulated the Olowu of Kuta, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, Tegbosun III, on the occasion of his 14th coronation anniversary.

In a congratulatory message signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Council, Comrades Adeyemi Aboderin and Olalekan Akindoju, respectively, the Union described the monarch’s 14 years on the throne as a remarkable milestone.

The Osun NUJ said the period had been characterised by the monarch’s commitment to preserving Yoruba culture and tradition, while promoting peace, development and progress in Kuta Kingdom and Osun State.

The Union commended Oba Makama for what it described as his exemplary leadership, noting that his influence had extended beyond the traditional institution to issues of peace, good governance, national development and community advancement.

According to the Council, the Olowu of Kuta has distinguished himself as a traditional ruler who has consistently used his position to contribute to public discourse and promote initiatives capable of advancing society.

The NUJ also praised the monarch’s longstanding relationship with the media, particularly his support for journalists and responsible journalism.

It noted that Oba Makama had consistently maintained constructive engagement with the media and demonstrated an understanding of the role of journalists in promoting accountability, development and informed public discourse.

The Union recalled that, in recognition of the monarch’s contributions to journalism and society, the Osun State Council had inducted him into its Hall of Fame and honoured him as a Life Patron of the Council.

The Council said the honours reflected the enduring relationship between the traditional ruler and the journalism profession, as well as his support for the welfare and advancement of journalists in the state.

The Osun NUJ prayed for long life, sound health, wisdom and continued grace for Oba Makama to enable him provide purposeful leadership to the people of Kuta Kingdom.

The Union also wished the kingdom continued peace, unity, prosperity and development under the monarch’s leadership.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining its cordial relationship with the traditional institution and pledged continued partnership with the Olowu of Kuta in promoting peace, development and responsible journalism in Osun State.
