Former SSS DG, Pioneer NIA Boss Albert Horsfall Dies At Old Age

Chief Albert Korubo Horsfall, former Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS) and pioneer Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), has died.

Horsfall’s death was announced on Friday by his son, Donald Horsfall, in a statement issued on behalf of the family.

According to the family, the former intelligence chief died peacefully after a fulfilled life devoted to God, his family, community, Rivers State and Nigeria.

The family described Horsfall as a beloved patriarch whose death represented an “irreparable loss”, but said it found solace in the life he lived and the legacy he left behind.

It described the deceased as an illustrious son of the Niger Delta, distinguished public servant, statesman and administrator who occupied an important place in the history of Rivers State and Nigeria.

The family said Horsfall served the country with dedication, integrity and patriotism, adding that he was among the founding fathers of Rivers State who made significant contributions to the development of the state and Nigeria.

According to the statement, his counsel, courage and commitment to justice, peace and good governance earned him the respect of several generations of leaders and citizens.

The family said Horsfall’s contributions to national service and public administration would remain part of his enduring legacy.

It added that his memory would continue to inspire those who knew him and benefited from his wealth of knowledge, experience and compassion.

The family said arrangements for his funeral would be announced in due course, while thanking those who had shared in the family’s grief and supported them at the time of his passing.
