Kadanga Reflects on 11 Months of Leadership, Highlights NBCYC Achievements

Eleven months after assuming office as the 16th National President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention Youth Conference (NBCYC), Ambassador Amos Barnabas Kadanga has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the unity, relevance, and impact of the Conference.

Speaking during the ongoing 52nd Annual Session of the NBCYC at the Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, Kadanga described the past eleven months as a period of purposeful leadership, characterized by spiritual growth, youth empowerment, institutional reforms, and strengthened partnerships within and outside the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

According to him, the Conference successfully organized several landmark programmes, including the National Leadership Training Conference across its three zones, the Annual Mission Outreach in Dumne, Adamawa State, the Annual Executive Meeting and Leadership Retreat, and the Convention Youth Night. He attributed the successful execution of these programmes to God’s faithfulness and the dedication of the leadership and members.

Kadanga also highlighted the Conference’s expanding engagement with sister organizations and the Nigerian Baptist Convention, noting that the administration remains committed to raising “global champions for global impact.”

He disclosed that the NBCYC has maintained active participation in the All African Baptist Youth Fellowship, the Youth Wing of the Christian Council of Nigeria, and the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, with representatives of the Conference currently serving as Vice Presidents in both the Christian Council of Nigeria Youth Wing and the Christian Association of Nigeria Youth Wing.

On youth empowerment, the NBCYC President revealed that the Conference has continued to leverage opportunities through the Baptist Youth in Agriculture (BAYIA) initiative, with several young Baptists currently undergoing agricultural training at the Peace House Agricultural Training Institute in Ondo State. He encouraged more youths to take advantage of the initiative, as well as other empowerment opportunities available through the Arise Youth Network for Total Impact (AYNTI).

The youth leader further disclosed that the Conference has expanded its investment in crop farming at the Ajayi Dahunsi Baptist Memorial Youth Camp while boosting internally generated revenue through the production and sale of youth uniforms. He added that efforts are ongoing to secure strategic partnerships that will enhance the financial sustainability of the Conference.

On institutional development, he announced that a committee has been inaugurated to review the Conference’s bye-laws to reflect current realities and operational needs. He also noted that the administration has strengthened the Conference’s media presence and introduced quarterly webinars on contemporary issues affecting young people, with two successful editions already held this year.

Reflecting on the administration’s journey so far, the President reaffirmed the leadership’s resolve to preserve the unity, integrity, and dignity of the NBCYC while positioning the Conference to produce globally relevant Christian leaders.

As the administration enters its second year, he said its focus will remain on youth empowerment, leadership development, institutional strengthening, and expanding opportunities for Nigerian Baptist youths to thrive spiritually, socially, and economically.
