Osogbo Grammar School, 1972/76 Set Celebrates Glorious Golden Anniversary Held On 30TH – 31st August, 2026

Osogbo Grammar School (OGS) 1972/76 Set has successfully held its Golden Jubilee Anniversary Grand Homecoming Reunion. A two-day celebration marked by nostalgia, fellowship, and a landmark legacy project presented to the school.

Speaking on behalf of the Set, the President, Sir. ‘Demola Aladekomo, described the event as a resounding success and a proud milestone in the history of the Class.

Fifty years (50 years) after we passed through the gates of Osogbo Grammar School. It is with immense joy and gratitude to God that we gathered once again as brothers and sisters to celebrate this Golden Jubilee milestone,” Sir Aladekomo said. “This reunion was not just about reminiscing on old times, it was also about reaffirming our bonds and giving back to the institution that shaped our lives.

A Weekend of Fellowship and Reflection

The celebration commenced on Thursday with hotel check-in, distribution of souvenir packs, and an evening of banter and dinner that set the tone for the weekend’s warmth and camaraderie.

Friday’s main programme brought the Set members together at their alma mater for a full day of activities. The morning began with an opening prayer and a welcome address by the Dr. Abiodun Solesi, the Chairman, Planning Committee.

This was followed by a solemn moment of silence in honour of departed classmates. The President’s welcome address set the stage for an emotional “Throwback” session, during which old memories of school days were relived.

The highlight of the day was the Alumni Sharing session, where set members reflected on their varied career paths and life experiences, offering inspiration to one another and to the current generation of students. This was followed by a nostalgic tour of the School Premises and photographs at iconic locations that held special memories for the celebrants.

The Afternoon Session also featured a well-received wellness talk delivered by a member of the Set, Dr. Omolara Adeyemo. She spoke on the theme of; Healthy Ageing and Wellbeing in the Senior Years.

Dr. Adeyemo, highlighted key issues affecting the health of ageing alumni. She emphasized the importance of regular medical check-ups and screening for age-related conditions such as Hypertension, Diabetes, and Arthritis among others. The need for a balanced diet and consistent physical activity; the value of mental and emotional wellbeing were emphasised. Others were managing stress and staying socially connected. She reiterated the necessity of adequate rest and quality sleep. She urged set members to prioritise preventive healthcare and to look out for one another’s wellbeing as they continue to age gracefully together. She described the golden years as “a season to be lived deliberately and in good health.”

The afternoon continued with a Buffet and Music session, with a DJ spinning popular songs from the Set’s era, as members donned specially designed anniversary T-shirts and caps. Indoor games and cultural displays by current students added colour and youthful energy to the occasion.

Honouring Distinguished Alumni and Giving Back

The event was rounded off with an Awards and Recognition Ceremony honouring distinguished members of the Set and celebrating their contributions to Osogbo Grammar School and the society at large.

In a gesture that will leave a lasting legacy, the 1972/76 Set presented a renovated Legacy Gate to the School, an earlier project of the set now upgraded with a new Security Gate and illuminated with Solar lighting. The Set also rebuilt sections of the school fence that had been pulled down by a rainstorm. This has reinforced the Set’s commitment to the continued security and development of their alma mater.

“This reunion has once again proven that the bond forged at Osogbo Grammar School over fifty years ago remains unbroken,” Sir Aladekomo stated. “We are deeply grateful to every member who travelled from far and near to make this celebration a huge success. They also thanked the School Authorities for their warm reception. As we mark this Golden Jubilee Anniversary, we rededicate ourselves to the growth and development of our alma mater for generations to come.”
