Ede Muslim Council Endorses Adeleke For Second Term, Urges Peaceful Conduct Ahead Of Osun Poll

The Ede Muslim Council has endorsed the re-election bid of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, citing his administration’s performance in governance, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and promotion of religious harmony.

The endorsement was announced in a statement issued after the Council’s General Assembly meeting held at the Ede Central Mosque on Thursday and signed by its Chairman, Engr. Dr. Musibaudeen Idris, on behalf of the executive body.

According to the Council, the decision followed what it described as a careful and comprehensive assessment of the governor’s achievements since assuming office.

It said the administration’s record in key sectors had convinced members that granting Adeleke a second term would ensure the continuity of development and sustained peace across Osun State.
The Council consequently called on Muslims across Edeland to mobilise and vote massively for the governor in the governorship election scheduled for August 15.

“We are convinced that continuity will further advance peace and development across Osun State. We therefore call on all Muslims in Edeland to come out en masse and support Governor Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke in the forthcoming governorship election,” the statement read.

The Council also offered prayers for the governor’s success at the polls, expressing hope that his administration would continue to implement what it described as people-oriented programmes if re-elected.
Beyond its endorsement, the Muslim body appealed to political actors, supporters and residents of the state to maintain peace before, during and after the election.

It urged all stakeholders to shun violence and conduct themselves in a manner that would promote a free, fair and peaceful electoral process.

The statement concluded with prayers for peace, progress and stability in Osun State and Nigeria.
