Accord Party Condemns Killing Of Party Leader’s Son In Osun

The national leadership of Accord has condemned the killing of Kolade Eluyera, son of the party’s Woman Leader in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun state.

The party described the incident as “barbaric and politically motivated.”

In a statement issued Monday by the party’s National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbuden, Accord alleged that Eluyera was murdered by political thugs associated with the All Progressives Congress in near Onireke Mosque in Ikire.

The party said the killing was an attempt to intimidate and silence its members ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

“Accord strongly condemns the gruesome killing of Kolade Eluyera. It is outrageous and barbaric that a young man would be murdered by political thugs to silence his mother, who is a popular Accord woman leader in Irewole Local Government,” the statement read.

The party expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and vowed that his death would not be in vain.

Accord also called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the killing and their alleged sponsors, insisting that security agencies must ensure the safety of citizens during the election period.

The party further accused APC-linked thugs of harassing its members and destroying public properties, campaign materials and billboards belonging to Accord and the “Imole Campaign” across the state.

According to the statement, security agencies had failed in their responsibility to prevent political violence and intimidation in the state.

Accord maintained that it rejects violence and “politics of bitterness,” stressing that democracy should be strengthened through issue-based campaigns rather than intimidation and bloodshed.

The party reaffirmed its support for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, praising his administration’s performance and expressing confidence that the people of the state would re-elect him for a second term.

“The people want continuity of Adeleke’s good work in the state and are ready to re-elect him on August 15, 2026,” the statement added.

Accord also alleged that there were plots to rig the forthcoming election but insisted that such plans would fail because the people of Osun state remained committed to democratic governance.

The party urged residents to reject vote-buying and protect their votes, emphasizing that credible and transparent elections are essential for sustainable development and good governance in the state.
