Emulate People of Good Character, Group advise Students
A Community Based Organization, Florence and Josvid Foundation (FJF) has advised the youths to emulate people of good character and adopt attitudinal change.
The group said the virtues of St Valentine who for the sake of love for his people was beheaded, is a good and loyal character.
Speaking at the programme tagged ‘Valentine with a Different’, held at Finger-Liking Eateries and Restaurant for secondary students within Osun metropolis, had the Executive Director of the group, Mrs Florence Abosede Kalejaye admonished them to express love to one another by emulating good characters in the society.
Kalejaye, who spoke on the need for the students to avoid being lured into inordinate activities, saying they should refuse overbearing peer and social pressure that encourages them to change their attitudes, values and behaviors to conform to those of the influencing group or individual.
She said, “Whenever teens of your age are pressurizing you to do something you don’t want to do that is peer pressure and if it warrant you standing alone, stand even when tempted by friends and other peers.
While charging the students to resist all forms of social pressure, she emphasized that self-values, beliefs, confidence, integrity and responsibility are all necessary qualities every youths must possess to overcome these menace.
She, however, berated ladies who are in the attitude of dressing indecently raising the rate of rape in the society, describing them as uncouth and bad-mannered.
About 100 public and private secondary schools were in attendant at the programme, among which are El-shaddai College, St Charles Grammar School, Good Tiding Secondary School and CAC High School, all in Osogbo.
