JUST IN: Ondo Couple Regains Freedom After Paying Captors N5M
Mr. and Mrs. Jamiu Olawale, a couple abducted from their community in Ilu Abo, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State have regained their freedom after paying a ransom of five million naira, Western Post reports.
The couple who were reportedly kidnapped last Friday on their way from work spent four days in captivity before gaining their freedom on Tuesday night.
A relative, who spoke anonymously, confirmed that the family paid a ransom of five million naira to secure the couple’s release.
“They were freed by their captors on Tuesday night and have since been reunited with their family,” the source said.
The source also revealed that the kidnappers initially demanded forty million naira, which was later lowered to twelve million naira before they finally accepted five million naira after negotiation.
The couple’s ordeal has heightened concerns about security in Akure North, with residents calling for increased police vigilance.
