Prioritize Students’ Welfare For Better Academic Performance, FEDPOLY, Ede SUG Charges Mgt
The Federal Polytechnic Ede Student Union Government (SUG) in Osun has called on the institution’s Governing Council to prioritize students’ welfare for better academic performance.
The SUG President, Mr Ayanyemi Marvellous, made the call on the sidelines of the 2025 Union Day celebration in Ede.
The programmes had as its theme “Driving Leadership, Building Legacy, Moving the Future.”
Marvellous noted that the union had held several meetings with the school management on issues pertaining to students’ welfare and other concerns.
He expressed hope that the issues would be addressed in due course.
Marvellous stated that the SUG celebration was a testament to the union’s achievements, including donating a shuttle bus and building a secretariat for the union.
“We are donating a mini shuttle bus on behalf of the union to our students to ease their transportation problems between the North and South campuse”, he said.
Marvellous also thanked the management of the institution for allocating land for the union’s secretariat, describing it as commendable.
“What we have done today has never been done for so long by other SUG administrations, including donating a bus and securing land for our secretariat.”
Earlier, the Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic Governing Council Board, Prof. Taiwo Olaiya, commended the SUG President and his team for their good work, particularly the donation of a bus.
Olaiya promised that the proposed secretariat would receive speedy attention to facilitate student activities.
He added that the names of the current SUG President and his executives would be engraved on a marble after the secretariat’s completion, allowing incoming students to appreciate their contributions.
The Rector of the institution, Dr Sani Manyahaya, praised the SUG President and his team for their achievements, noting that the union had always been responsive to the management’s concerns.
Manyahaya stated that the management’s decision to donate land for the secretariat was a testament to the union’s good work.
According to him, the current SUG had accomplished what previous administrations could not achieve in years, and the entire council and management were proud of them.
“I urge them to remain committed to their studies and be good ambassadors in all they do.”
The event’s highlights included donations of N1.5 million by the Alumni and N1 million by the institution’s management to support the union.
