Kano By-Election: Over 100 Political Thugs Arrested, Await Prosecution — INEC
The Kano State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Ambassador Audu Zago, stated that over a hundred suspected political thugs who were arrested during the bye-election in the Bagwasi Local Government Area will be prosecuted in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the election.
“More than 100 political thugs have been arrested, adding that the police have confirmed this, the process is continuing, and you have seen for yourself”, he said.
The REC then stated that the “political thugs arrested will be prosecuted.
He, however, added that the election was peaceful and commended the security personnel for providing adequate security of life and property.
While speaking with the press in Bagwai town during his visit to various polling booths where elections were taking place, the REC stated.
“I am very impressed by the security arrangements here in Bagwsi town.”
“Thanks God, most of political thugs have been rounded up, the elevator process is going peacefully”.
“Voting materials arrived on time ,though we have two cases where thugs disrupted the voting , but security forces were on ground to ensure stability”.
The REC said “Shanono local government area is most volatile,but with the presence of security personnel, no cause for alarm, though we were going there now”.
