Osun Youth Ambassador Awards 2024: CityMirrorNews Publisher Ayobami Agboola Bags Excellence In Journalism Award
Ayobami Abdulrofiu Agboola, the publisher of CityMirror News, has been recognized with an Award of Excellence in Journalism at the 9th edition of the Osun Youth Ambassador Award (OYAA) 2024.
The prestigious event, held on Sunday, December 15, at the Oasis Event Center in Osogbo, celebrated the achievements of sixteen outstanding Osun youths for their significant contributions to the development of the state.
The ceremony, organized by the Youth Reform Initiative, aimed to honour individuals and teams who have demonstrated exceptional creativity, excellence, and impact in their respective fields.
The founder of the initiative, Aminat Ajibola, welcomed attendees with heartfelt gratitude, acknowledging the presence of esteemed guests, dignitaries, and award recipients.
Ayobami Agboola: A Career of Excellence
Agboola, a native of Euripa in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State, boasts over 14 years of experience in journalism. A graduate of Mass Communication from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, he has built a reputation for excellence in news reporting, investigative journalism, and fact-based storytelling. He is also the founder and CEO of CityMirror News Media Organisation, a platform committed to delivering reliable and impactful news.
In addition to his publishing role, Agboola is an editor and strategist with expertise in news transcription, proofreading, and market research. His colleagues, friends, and family, including members of the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) led by Chairman Mukhtar Ajelogbon, celebrated his well-deserved recognition.
A Star-Studded Event
The event featured prominent personalities, including the Akire of Ikire-Ile, Oba Abdulazeez Olatunbosun Adebamiji; the Olowu of Kuta Kingdom, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama; Olori Adegboyin Oyetunji, wife of the Ataoja of Osogbo; and Dr. Yusuf Abduganiyu Aderemi, Coordinator of the Department of Language and Linguistics at Fountain University.
Dr. Aderemi, who served as the guest speaker, delivered an insightful lecture on “Mental Health Awareness: Breaking the Stigma Among Youth.” He highlighted key issues contributing to mental health challenges, such as academic pressure, unemployment, low self-esteem, and cyberbullying. He also offered strategies for addressing these issues, including fostering conversations, providing counseling services, and integrating mental health education into school curriculums.
Recognizing Excellence Across Diverse Fields
The OYAA 2024 honored individuals excelling in various fields, such as youth development, mass communication, education, and social empowerment. Notable award recipients include: Ademola Olawoyin: Excellence in Youth Development, Ridwan Abiodun: Excellence in Humanitarian Service, Samson Ajao: Excellence in Education, Adepeju Adegbite Deborah: Excellence in Mass Communication.
