Cleric Calls For Prayers To Overcome Economic Hardship In Nigeria

As Over 40 Nigerians Bag CAN Award Of Excellence In Ile-Ife

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Ile Ife chapters The Rev Canon Dr. Sam Leye Onitiju has called for fervent prayer for Nigeria to overcome the present economic hardship occasioned by fuel subsidy removal.

Onitiju explained that it is only God’s intervention that can reposition the economy of the country, urging the people at the helm of affairs to seek God’s wisdom in any of their policies as government.

The CAN Chairman who charged Nigerians to imbibe in the spirit of prayer, urging them to have trust in the Lord so as to overcome the country’s current economic situation.

He disclosed this yesterday at the 2024 Award and investiture of the Grand Patron and life Matron for the Ife chapter of CAN, held in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

According to the Chairman, the only solution to Nigeria current economic challenges is for Nigerians to seek for the God intervention, appealing to Nigerians to move more closer to God.

Onitiju appeal to Nigerian people to inculcate the spirit of going in the way of God and they should pray fervently to seek God’s solution to this current economic challenges.

Speaking on the theme: “Finishing Strong”, Onitiju said the benefit of coming to this world is to finish the journey of life strong in the Lord.

Speaking on the purpose of the event, Onitiju appreciated God for making the Programme a reality, just as he described it exceptional and a moment of divine purpose.

He said bestowed award of excellence on over 40 Nigerians in recognition of their remarkable contributions to the propagation of the Christianity in Ile-Ife. He said the awardees have laboured tirelessly in the vineyard of the Lord for the development of Christianity in the town.

He added that inauguration of the council of Elders will strengthen the Christianity in Ile Ife as well as the investiture of patron, matron and conferment of award of meritorious service and recognition would go a long way

Chairman CAN Ile Ife chapters reminded the congregation of the words of Apostle Paul in book of first Corinthians chapter 15vs58 which says:”Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters,,stand firm, let nothing move you, always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain”indeed, the Men we are recognizing today have embodied this scripture through their dedication, unwavering commitment and selfless service to the body of Christ and the advancement of the gospel .

Onitiju while congratulating them all thanked His imperial Majesty Oni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja, for his huge contribution towards the CAN projects and commended His royal highness Obawara of Iwara Ife oba Elder DR Samuel olusegun Adedire and Olu of Tafa Aperin kingdom Ife Oba special Apostle Dr Abiola fakoyejo Awoseemo for supporting Christianity

He therefore thanked the CAN executives particularly the organizing committee and the CAN at large for the job well done

In his sermon, very Rev Olabode Thomas Osunniyi charged Christians to keep to the God’s commandments in order to finish strong. He congratulated the Christian body success of the programme

In their separate remarks Obawara of Iwara Ife oba Elder DR Samuel olusegun Adedire and olu of Tafa Aperin kingdom Ife oba special Apostle Abiola fakoyejo Awoseemo who could not hide their joy thanked Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Ile Ife chapters for counting them worthy of the award and promised their continual support for the association

The Grand patron overseer Anthony Adebayo olayinka and the life matron Chief Mrs Benedicta Abosede Adeyemo appreciated CAN for the precious positions which they promised to hold in high esteemed

Meanwhile, no fewer than 40 Nigerians bagged award of excellence for their various contributions to the development of Christianity in Ile-Ife.
