Police Release Ajaero After Writing Statement
The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, has been allowed by the police to leave the headquarters of its Intelligence Response Team in Abuja.
The labour leader who arrived at the place in company with his lawyer, Femi Falana SAN, around 10: 20am, left at 11:15am.
Ajaero who was invited by the police in connection with charges of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, reasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime, was not detained by the police.
He was however, asked to write his statement.
The NLC had warned against any maltreatment of Ajaero while threatening a mass action against the authorities.
“The NEC directs all affiliates and state councils to immediately commence the process of mobilising their members across the nation. The Congress will not hesitate to take all necessary actions, including mass protests and industrial actions, to protect the integrity and independence of the labour movement. If anything happens to the President of the Congress or any other leader of the Congress in furtherance of these tendentious allegations by the State” it said.
