The World is Waiting for You, NBCYC President Tells Youths
Jide Afolabi, Jos
President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention Youth Conference, Amb. Toba Emmanuel Bamidele, PhD. has told the youths that the world was waiting for them to shine the light of Christ.
Bamidele made the statement in his address at the 51st Annual Session of the Nigerian Baptist Convention Youth Conference (NBCYC) ongoing at the NDLEA Academy in Jos, Plateau State. The conference, themed “Fire in My Bones” (Jeremiah 20:9), aimed to inspire youths to utilize their God-given gifts for a fulfilling life and to impact the world positively.
“The world is indeed waiting for us, and we can’t afford to fail in shining the light of Christ to them. We must, therefore, be motivated to put to use all the gifts the Lord has endowed us with to live a fulfilling life and for the betterment of our world at large.”
Bamidele expressed gratitude to God for the conference’s success despite initial setbacks. He acknowledged the support of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, past leaders, and the Northern Baptist Youth Fellowship.
The President emphasised the importance of Baptist youths being “image makers and faces of NBCYC” and encouraged the use of uniforms and literature to promote the organisation’s image. He also urged active involvement in church ministry, saying, “You can’t afford to fold your hands and be left out as God is raising His end-time army for kingdom exploit.”
His address featured progress updates on the NBCYC-BICC project, the youth resource center, and the launch of the Diaspora Fellowship of the Nigerian Baptist Convention Youths.
Bamidele concluded, “We have a great assignment in our hands; God has invested so much in us, and we can’t afford to fail Him. Remember, to whom much is given, much is expected.”
The conference was marked by inspiring worship sessions, thought-provoking seminars, and impactful outreach programs, leaving a lasting impact on the delegates.
