The Defence Headquarters on Thursday revealed that the troops of the Nigerian Army were able to eliminate no fewer than 640 terrorists, detain 1,051 suspects, and free 563 hostages who had been kidnapped in the month of May 2024.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Bubamade this disclosure in a statement made available to New Telegraph regarding the activities of the Nigerian military in Abuja.
Speaking with newsmen, Buba claimed that as a result of strong pressure from the forces in all theatres of operations, several senior terrorist commanders and fighters had diminished the terrorists’ effectiveness.
He added that some suspects, including their informants and logistical sources, had been captured by the soldiers.
He continued by saying that in addition to other weaponry, the soldiers also found 707 different types of weapons and 16,487 different types of ammunition, including 411 AK-47 rifles, 234 locally made guns, and 43 pump action guns.
