Breaking: Adamawa Govt Closes Schools Over Measles Outbreak, Records 42 Deaths

The Adamawa State Government has announced the temporary closer of all government and private schools in the State.

Government’s decision followed the recent announcement by the State Commissioner for Health, Chief Felix Tangwani that 42 people died as a result of the outbreak of measles

This is sequel to a circular issued on Monday and made available to CityMirrorNews by the Adamawa State Post Primary Schools Management Board, Yola.

Signed by the Acting Executive Secretary of the Board, Samuel Wagereng to all Principals of Senior and junior Secondary Schools in the State.

The statement stated in part, “I am directed to inform you that all schools should remain closed till next week Monday (13/5/2024) due to the outbreak of measles across the State, coordinating principals should communicate to all private schools”.

“This information should be taken with all seriousness and urgent”, it added.

It would be recalled that the State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Chief Felix Tangwani had last week announced that 42 people died following the outbreak of measles which ravaged two Local Government Areas of the State.

He revealed that the disease ravages eight wards in Mubi and seven wards in Gombi Local Government Areas respectively which resulted to the death of 42 out of 131 and 177 victims.
