Peter Obi’s Admission: No School Construction During Eight-Year Tenure As Anambra Governor [Video]
…Says replacing moribund schools without fixing them is like building coastal lines before internal roads
The Labour Party’s presidential candidate during the 2023 general elections,Mr. Peter Obi,has officially disclosed that no new schools were constructed during his eight-year tenure as governor of Anambra State.
Recall that Reno Omokri, a former presidential spokesman had challenged Obi’s supporters, popularly known as ‘Obidients’ to name one school started, completed and finished by the former Anambra State governor in his eight years reign and he would give anyone who could name one $10,000.
As no reply was received,Omokri took to his X handle on Monday asserted that no supporter of the former governor had been able to identify a single school constructed during his tenure.
“Ninety-six hours after I gave the challenge, nobody has been able to name one school that Peter Obi initiated, started, completed and finished in the eight years he was Governor of Anambra.
“Instead, they have responded with insults, abuses and threats. I can name multiple schools built by Local Government and LCDA Chairmen in Lagos.
“Now, please just name one school initiated, started, completed and commissioned by Peter Obi in Anambra and win ₦11,400,000,” he tweeted.
However, to the disappointment of the Obidients, Peter Obi on Thursday during a press conference in Abuja confirmed not building any school in Anambra as governor of the state.
Defending himself, he said those who said that failed to avail themselves of his manifesto.
He said that when he came to Anambra State, education was in shambles, schools were closed and the state was number 26 in the country but by the time he left, Anambra was number one in the state.
“I improved the quality, physical and mental well-being of the people, schools, had the basic things they needed and the people shone like stars and that was my manifesto.
“Building new schools when the old ones are moribund is just like building coastal lines when internal roads are impassable.”
