NGO Organises Public Lecture to Commemorate Awolowo’s 30th Anniversary

A Non Governmental Organisation, the Awolowo Wheel of Oasis Organisation (AWOO) would on May 4, organize a lecture to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the demise of the late Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
According to the Coordinator of the group, Comrade Oluwafemi Awogboro, the topic for discussion at the programme is “Unity Among Yorubas, Panacea for Regional Development and Political Advancement”.
Awogboro in a press statement on Sunday said the Guest Speaker for the programme is Chief Ayo Opadokun, the Secretary General, National Democratic Coalition while the National Vice Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engineer Segun Oni would chairman the occasion.
The programme will hold at the House of Chiefs, Oyo State Government Secretariat, Ibadan.
Awogboro explained that the AWOO is treading the path of the Awolowo towards poverty eradication and sustainable national development.
He disclosed that the group has helped the less privileged in the society by giving vocational training, poverty alleviation materials, educational materials etc, periodically.
“We also engage in public lectures and colloquium on topical issues that affect governance, development and poverty eradication. We have a strong and intimate working relationship with the Awolowo dynasty.
“Reverend Tola Oyediran (the first daughter of Chief Obafemi Awolowo) is aware of all our activity. Bukky Awolowo, one of the grand children also works closely with us”, he said.
