Say No To Broken Homes , Uphold Good Parenting, Olagoke Charges Parents

The Executive Director, Center for Religious Cooperation and Tolerance (CRCT) , Wakajaye,Ibadan , Professor Sabit Ariyo Olagoke JP has charged parents to shun divorce or separation in marriage at all cost as such always have negative impact on the children

Olagoke,who is the spiritual head and grand Imam, Shafaudeen-in Islam Worldwide gave the charge at a “One -Day Capacity Building for Religious Adherents on Advocacy Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in the Religious Space ” held at the CRCT hall of the Organisation

The program, organised in conjunction with Voice of Women Empowerment Foundation had adherents of the Islamic and Christian faith as well as representatives of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in attendance.

“Separation or divorce is hateful in the sight of God, and we must all say No to broken homes by upholding good parenting.” , he admonished

He noted that adhering to the conditions for marriage will serve as foundation for a happy home and an antidote to sexual/ gender based violence

Speaking on the giri- child , the Islamic cleric, who is also the Arole Ogunelu Ejemu, Aare Alasa Dynasty in Ibadanland called for a change of mindset about the girl- child or women saying women are better half and a partner for a successful journey of life.

According to him, men should strive to be better husbands and father and to desist from marriage to minors

Olagoke emphasized the need for gender balancing in child-rearing stating that the male child must be trained that women are not slaves and sex objects while men must uphold fidelity and women, chastity

He however, urged the public to stop stigmatization of victims of rape in the spirit of social inclusion adding “they must be able to carry out activities with normal lifestyle like others in the society.”

In his remarks, the Founder, Grace Tabernacle Bible Church International, Wakajaye , Pastor Omotade Emmanuel urged parents to give adequate care and attention to their children especially the female child so as to reap the fruits of their labour
