Ifon-Ilobu Crisis: Basiru Sues For Peace
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru has urged all parties in the recent hostilities between Ifon and Ilobu to prioritise dialogue as the path to peace.
In a statement, Senator Basiru condemned the conflicts that have resulted in annihilation and destruction of lives and property, feeling concerned for the victims and identifying with them.
Calling on traditional rulers, local leaders, community elders and the government to take effective steps towards dousing the tension that has given birth to conflagration, Senator Basiru believes constructive discussions, implementing conflict resolution mechanisms and peaceful negotiations can breed an enduring and lasting harmony between the waring communities and engender a large- scale peace in Osun State.
” It is our collective responsibility to come together as citizens, set aside our differences, recognize our shared history, culture and norms to build stronger communities, foster physical and economic growth and secure a better future for the coming generation”.
The APC National Scribe also appeals to the media, and civil society organisations to be instrumental in efforts towards peace by spreading messages of reconcilation, cohesion and hope.
He equally restates his commitment to working with other stakeholders in the pursuit of peace in Ifon and Ilobu, just as he calls on all and sundry to join in the endeavour for a more harmonious and prosperous Osun State.
