Ministerial Appointment: Owa Obokun, Ijesa People Rejoice with Oyetola

The people of Ijesaland have congratulated the former governor of Osun state, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, on his recent appointment as Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

In a congratulatory advertorial signed by the trio of Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi and the Sawe of Ilesa, Chief Akin Akinola, the people of Ijesa extended their goodwill message to the new minister and extolled his professional and managerial impact in the state.

The message read in part, “The Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, the Royal Majesties in Ijesaland, Ijesa Leaders and Chiefs, Sons and Daughters at home and in the Diaspora, heartily congratulate His Excellency, Mr Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, on your deserved appointment as the pioneer Federal Minister of Marine and Blue Economy in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The statement added that Mr Oyetola’s appointment did not come to them by chance but rather a confirmation of his antecedents as a sterling technocrat and shrewd resource manager.

While rejoicing with Oyetola, the people of the illustrious land also expressed their confidence in the capacity of the Iragbiji-born insurance magnate and politician to harness Nigeria’s massive potential in marine and aquatic resources for economic diversification, growth and development of the country.

They prayed for God’s guidance for the minister and wished him successful tenure in office.

Meanwhile, an Ijesa socio-cultural group, Ijesa People in Diaspora Foundation (IPD-F) has registered their profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding the former governor worthy of the exalted position.

In a press statement signed by the Bobaseye of Isolo-Ijesa, Chief Akinyemi Fasakin, the group saluted the choice of Oyetola, describing it as timely and deserving given the record of exemplary leadership provided by Oyetola in Osun state during the period of economic turmoil in the state.

“First of all, we thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for choosing an economic engineer to man a new ministry as important as the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy. No person could have been more suitable to head the new ministry than a man who has hands-on experience in the maritime industry and who pivoted the affairs of Osun government when its economy was near collapse on account of huge debt left behind by his predecessor.”

Bobaseye Fasakin said Oyetola did not only turn around the fortune of the state, he equally paid part of the debt bequeathed to his government.

“Our people in Ijesaland would be eternally grateful to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for giving us a befitting University of Ilesa and restoring the glory of Ilesa Grammar School which was almost ruined by the clumsy education policy of Oyetola’s predecessor,” Fasakin stated.
