Ondo Govt To Use Farming To Discourage Youths From Money Rituals, Killings

The Ondo state Government, on Thursday disclosed that it has concluded plans to encourage more youths into Agriculture and discourage the rate of ritual killings among the youths in the state.

Akin Olotu, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Agric and Agri-Business, who disclosed this while speaking with executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),Ondo State Council, however, frowned at the spate of this ritual killings.

“I have met with PFN leadership in the state, I want us to pay attention to ritual killings in the state. We may not know the gravity of what is going on now until the next five years,” he said.

Olotu said he had met with the leadership of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) on the spate of ritual killings and urged media organisations to begin a form of advocacy on the issue in churches and media organisations.

He said his centre was doing its own by advertising that young ones interested in fish farming to come register at the his office.

On some achievements by the state government, Olotu said with the level of investment in the oil palm plantation in Okitipupa, which saw them host the first Annual General Meeting in 20 years, the state would soon become number one producer of palm oil in the country.

The SSA said with the investment in oil palm production and other intervention areas of the governor, Ondo State would soon attain boost in its internally generated revenue in years to come.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the State NUJ council, Prince Leke Adegbite, appreciated the Olotu for his efforts towards revamping the Agribusiness sector of the economy.

Adegbite said he was happy that Olotu appreciated the efforts of journalists in bringing peace and unity to the state and country at large.

He, therefore, assured that the union was moving towards curbing issues of fake news and fake journalists in the state and country at large.
