TITLES versus VALUES
TITLES versus VALUES By ‘Tunde Olatunji
A journalist recently asked why I prefer to introduce myself simply by my name and not include tittles. Then I said:
“The true worth of a man is not in his TITLES, but in his VALUES”.
Honourable, Senator, Professor, Doctor, Engr., Reverend, Alhaji, High Chief, Prince, SAN, FCA,……etc. They are all good and beautiful tittles, especially when hard earned and truly deserving.
But, I’m really concerned and worried at the visible disconnet between TITLES and VALUES in this part of the world.
We keep growing TITLES yet our VALUES won’t stop shrinking.
Our society is now saturated with TITLE HOLDERS but in dire need of VALUE CARRIERS.
As 2020 approaches, please don’t just hold TITLES, carry VALUES so you can add VALUE.
Nigeria needs it, Africa needs it, the political class needs it, the private sector needs it, the churches and mosques need it, you need it, I need it, we all need it!
Good morning and happy Sunday.
