Govt Should Leverage Sports To Galvanise The Energy Of Nigerian Youths – Alli-Ballogun
A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Ibrahim Alli-Ballogun has emphasized the importance of investing in sports to engage Nigeria’s vast youth population for economic development.
Speaking at the Progressive Young Summit in Abuja, which was organized by the APC National Youth Leader Dr. Dayo Israel, Hon. Alli-Ballogun highlighted sports as a crucial sector for reducing unemployment and youth restiveness.
He cited Surulere as a case study and showcased the programs a successful model where youths are empowered to contribute to the community’s annual sports festival, which also gave them a voice while promoting inclusivity.
He urged the government at all levels, whether federal, state, or local governments, to recognize sports as a vital tool for youth engagement, stressing that community involvement is essential for achieving goals.
“No matter how many connections you have at the state or federal level, if you don’t engage with your community, you won’t succeed,” he said.
Alli-Ballogun commended Dr. Dayo Israel for providing a platform for youths to express themselves and contribute to national development.
“As the leader of Africa’s largest political youth group, Dayo Israel has excelled in inclusivity since assuming office, and we must appreciate and support him.”
The Progressive Young Summit aims to harness Nigerian youths’ energy and ideas to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
