Ex-Eaglets Star Jailed For Sexual Assault In Denmark
A Danish court has sentenced former Golden Eaglets star and FC Copenhagen of Denmark forward Akinkunmi Amoo to one year in prison for sexual assault.
The news of his sentencing was confirmed in a tweet by former BBC World Football reporter, Osasu Obayiuwana.
Amoo will, however, appeal the court decision.
According to Danish newspaper, Ekstra Bladet, Amoo was charged with rape, as well as attempted rape and violations of two more women.
Danish authorities had first brought forward criminal charges against the player in April 2022, and then again in July and August 2022.
The trial has been going on for most of June.
The Nigerian was found guilty of all three charges in the Copenhagen District Court.
The 21-year-old will be deported after serving the jail term.
He will then be banned from entering Denmark for six years.
Amoo was part of the Golden Eaglets side that featured at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
