Transportation : Osun To Enhance Operations

Osun State Government has called for a hitch-free transportation of passengers, goods and services, as well as smooth and peaceful relationship between transport operators especially ‘korope’ bus operators and traffic control officials.

While addressing the member’s of the ‘korope’ transport operators at Olaiya Junction in Osogbo today, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Works and transport, Engineer Toke Olaniyan, appealed to the drivers who were organising a protest against alleged extortion of their members by officers of the Road Safety Corps to present their grievances to the State Government rather than blocking the road to show their grievances.

He appealed for peaceful coexistence among operators in the state transport sector and assured them of the State Government’s intervention on the issue.

Engineer Toke Olaniyan made it known that the State Government has held series of meetings with the road transport unions in the state and urged the ‘korope’ bus operators to channel their grievances through their recognised union. He further urged them to obtain all necessary documents that would facilitate their smooth operations within the State.

The Special Adviser stated that the government will in no distant time improve the existing bus-stops at appropriate locations across the state in other to further enhance traffic flow in state.

He urged citizens to see the administration of his Excellency, Governor Oyetola Oyetola as an administration which has the best interest of the people in mind.

The union before suspending their protest called for government’s intervention on the numerous levies imposed on them by road transport officials.Transportation : Osun to enhance operations.
