COVID-19: Ilare Elites Provide Palliatives For Residents
Indigenes of Ilare-Ijesa, Obokun Local Government Area, Osun State, under the auspices of Ilare Welfare Group have given out palliatives to residents of the Ilare township and its environs.
Apparently worried by the socio-economic impact on the people of the town and its surrounding villages as a result of total compliance with the Stay at Home Order of the Government to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the state, Elites of the town both home and abroad contributed millions of Naira to purchase food stuff for all residents of the town.
The items contained in the packs given to each family according to a release by the spokesperson of the town, Chief Tope Abiola included Beans, Garri, Semovita and salt.
Speaking on behalf of the group on the provision of the relief materials to the people, the Coordinator of the programme, Professor (Mrs) Olubukola Oyawoye at the Owalare’s Palace, said “the gesture was borne out of the love of prominent Indigines of the town to foster peace and societal harmony, so that the inhabitants of the town could be relieved of the likely economic impact of the total lock down in the state in the prevention of the spread of Covid-19.
Professor Oyawoye who muted the idea disclosed that a committee was put in place by elites of the town to ensure that every family living in the town was given the food items that could sustain them for a period of time.”
Also corroborating the coordinator, the president of Ilare Development Association (IDA), Asiwaju Oyedeji Olajubu, said Elites of the town would not relent in its efforts to provide succor for the people.
While reacting to the provision of the palliatives, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adejoro Otebolaku, the Owalare of Ilare said provision of the palliatives for inhabitants of the town was unprecedented and remarkable in the history of the town. He lauded the initiatives of the organisers, praying that God would continue to provide for them.
The monarch also commended the inhabitants of the town and the entire Obokun East Local Council Development Area for their compliance with the Stay at home Order of the State Government of Osun in order to curtail the spread of the dreadful Corona Virus Disease.
He also admonished the people to remain calm, law abiding and follow the protection guidelines of the disease by washing their hands regularly, using the hands sanitizer and maintain social distance.
He prayed that no indigines of the town would be victims of the the deadly disease.
