Orile-Owu Seeks Osun Govt Intervention On Dangote Quarry Site Land Ownership

Orile-Owu community in Ayedaade Local Council Development Area of Osun state has appealed to the state government to intervene and influence the Dangote group to recognize, pay all necessary entitlements as well as provide benefits entitled to the community in respect of the company’s Quarry site located in Gbokutaru which falls under its jurisdiction.

The community in a statement by Orile-Owu Inner Circle Forum endorsed by its President, Com.Adebisi Olumide Millo, Secretary, Akintola Lateef and publicist, Adedigba Daramola urged the government to register its presence on the land and halt an alleged encroachment of its land by Ijebus from Ogun state.

The statement said two court judgements of 1967 and appeal tribunal of 1974 had settled the land disputes between Orile-Owu community of Osun state and Ijebu-Igbo of Ogun state thereby giving it authentic ownership of the land.

The community also implored the state government of Osun to initiate a plan that will lead to the forumulation of a genuine Memorandum of Understanding between Orile-Owu and Dangote company in establishing the legitimacy of the property as belonging to the town.

The Orile-Owu Inner Circle Forum on behalf of the community urged the government to expedite action on giving due recognition and put a lasting end to the needless controversies as well as the lingering feud of both parties over the land.
