Elections: Osun APC Raises Alarm On Threat To Peace, Calls On Security Agencies To Act Promptly

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state has raised an alarm over the influx of suspected political thugs in the state ahead of Saturday presidential and National Assembly elections.
In a statement by the party’s Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, on Friday in Osogbo, indicated that suspected political assassins are reportedly being camped in a community in Obokun/Oriade federal constituency.
The party alleged that the main opposition party has started importing ammunition and thugs from neighboring states into the state, ahead tomorrow elections.
The statement stated that some concerned citizens, who witnessed the strange and unprecedented influx of unknown aliens into their communities, in Ife, Ila, Obokun, Ijebujesa alerted the party about the presence of the suspected thugs.
The party called on security agencies to act promptly to avert possible security breaches in the state.
According to the statement, “the suspected political assassins were camped in a community located at Obokun/Oriade , Ila and Ife Federal constituencies
The party further explained that peace had reportedly taken a flight in Ila township, adding that its members have been reportedly brutalized by some suspected political thugs.
“While such aliens might also be in other communities yet to be identified, our sources confirmed that these unknown people were sighted in Ife, Ila, Ibokun and Ijebujesa.
The party maintained that, the importation of political assassins for the purpose of violence ahead of Saturday presidential and National Assembly elections shall not be tolerated in the state, noting that the upcoming elections is not a war between enemies, but a friendly exercise to freely elect leaders that will take the state and the country to the next level of development.
APC, alleged that the motive behind the opposition party’s importation of ammunitions and thugs is to disrupt and manipulate the coming election.
“They are fully aware that there is no way they can win in any credible election in Osun state and their chieftains are already jittery of the monumental defeat that awaits them in the in tomorrow elections. “
