NESREA Warns Osun Residents Against Indiscriminate Dumping Of Refuse

The Osun State Coordinator, National Environmental Standard Enforcement and Regulations Agency (NESREA), Mr Shukwunweizu Muhammad Maike has called on residents of the state to continue to tidy their environments and shun indiscriminate dumping of refuse into the stream.

The Coordinator made this call during an induction of the Ataoja of Osogbo land, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, Larooye 11, as the Grand Patron of NESREA Green Corps in his palace.

The Osun NESREA Coordinator said, the Federal Government recently reiterated its resolve to ensure a greener environment in order to protect and conserve the natural resources in the country which calls for the partnership of the traditional rulers in disseminating environmental information in their respective domains.

Maike enjoins the Ataoja to inform and educate all members of Osogbo in Council to also extend the environmental message to their various community in order to avert epidemic.

The Osun NESREA Boss who highly commended the Ataoja for creating environmental awareness, his efforts in promoting and sustain a healthy environment, enjoin other traditional rulers in the state to emulate him.

According to Maike, “the main aim and objectives of the NESREA Green Corps Initiative, is to collaborate with the residents by involving them in environmental governance through volunteers who will be acting on the NESREA’s instructions as a way of having a healthier and cleaner environment”.

While Speaking, the Ataoja of Osogbo who was represented by Chief Gabriel Ojo Oparanti, praised the NESREA for making the traditional ruler a grand patron of Green Corps while assuring them of their readiness in making the entire Osogbo land free from epidemic through tidiness of the whole environment.

Ataoja also assured of their unalloyed and unflinching support to the NESREA all the time.

In his own contribution, the General Manager, Osun State Waste Management Agency, OWMA, Sanitarian Henry Femi Ogunbamiwo, enjoins the entire residents of Osogbo to comply with environmental laws in order to eradicate diseases in the society.

The Osun OWMA boss who informed that the state governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola is trying his best by supporting the agency adequately in order to avoid any break of epidemic in the state enjoined the residents to join hands with government by saying no to dumping of refuse into the stream while they should tidy their various environment.
