By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo
A socio-political group in Osun, Asiwaju Grassroot Foundation (AGF) has commended Governor Gboyega Oyetola for lighting up the state saying it was a giant stride that would enhance security of the state.
AGF made this commendation on Thursday in a statement signed by its State Coordinator, Comrade Tijani Sikiru, and made available to newsmen in Osogbo.
Sikiru noted that the lighting up of the state by Governor Oyetola will give no room for criminals who hide in darkness to perpetrate evil.
The Osun AGF Coordinator further explained that Governor Oyetola’s marching order to restore street lights in the State capital and other major towns and cities in the State is to make Osun more secure
According to him, the major streets in Osogbo such as Ola – Iya junction to Ogo Oluwa down to Abeere, Ola – Iya to Itaolokan, Oke fia to Government House ,Ola Iya through Alekuwodo to Oke Fia, down to Dele Yes Sir areas have been lighted.
He said: “In addition to beautifying the city at night, makes our environment more secured, the street lights will return night traders to their spots, restoring commercial and economic potential into night life”
Sikiru opined that this development will aid security operatives in discharging their duty and preserve the state from enjoying her peace with security of life and prosperity especially during Eid-Kabir where different people will be moving into the state for this festival from different states.
“Governor Oyetola light up of the state is an attestation to his firm determination to deliver his campaign promises made to the people of Osun” the group said.
“We are happy for Governor Oyetola for lighting up of Osun State because this contribution will impact on the state security”.
He appealed to citizens to, besides regular payments of taxes, steer clear of destroying public property, as this is tantamount to development and progress.
He also urged the people of the state to keep supporting the state government with prayer and report any suspicious movement of anyone to security agents before, during and after Sallah.
