The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, and his wife, Mrs Abibat Basiru, on Saturday cast their votes in the ongoing Osun State governorship election.

The couple voted at Ward 7, Unit 3, in Osogbo Local Government Area, arriving at the polling unit at about 8:45 a.m., shortly after voting commenced.

Speaking with journalists after casting his ballot, Basiru commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the timely deployment of electoral materials and personnel to polling units across the state.

He also applauded the large turnout of voters, describing it as a demonstration of the people’s commitment to the democratic process.

The APC chieftain equally praised security agencies for what he described as effective arrangements, saying the presence of security personnel had helped to maintain a peaceful and orderly atmosphere at polling centres.

Basiru described the exercise at his polling unit as calm and hitch-free, expressing optimism that the election would be free, fair and credible.

He further expressed confidence in the APC’s chances, saying he remained hopeful that the party would emerge victorious at the end of the poll.

Voting is ongoing across Osun State amid tight security and significant voter participation.
