‘People Now See Me As Ghost’ – House of Rep Candidate Cries Out As Party Chair Declares Him Dead
The House of Representatives candidate for Nasarawa Constituency, Kano State, in the 2023 general election, Musa Mohammed Ali, has demanded a public apology from the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, Engr Yabagi Yusuf Sani, and the National Secretary, Victor Fingesi.
Ali is also demanding the withdrawal of a letter which was forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which he alleged was attached with a forged death certificate in his name.
According to him, the party chairman and secretary had, prior to the general elections, sent the letter to INEC, notifying the Commission of his replacement, claiming he was dead.
Ali said that people now see him as a ghost.
He threatened legal action against the party chieftains if they fail to withdraw the law and tender a public apology.
In a statement on Friday, Ali said, “I am still heartbroken, devastated and traumatized as people keep trooping to my home for over a year to pay condolences particularly friends and relatives outside Kano State and the country as the news of my purported death spread after the contemptuous ADP leaders announcement of my demise which also adversely affected my campaign for House of Representatives Nasarawa Constituency seat, Kano State.
“It has been one year of grief, pain and sorrow as some people see me as a ghost and wonder if I am alive. On 31st August 2022, I swore an affidavit at the High Court Kano, “That I did NOT and will NEVER WITHDRAWAL MY CANDIDATURE. I am still alive and capable of being elected as a Kano member of the Federal House of Representatives.
“I also wrote to the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, dated 31st August 2022, which was acknowledged on 4th October 2022.
“It is inconceivable, despicable, irresponsible and wicked for my party National Chairman, Engr. Yabagi Sani and National Secretary Victor Fingesi wrote to INEC announcing my demise when they knew very well that I was and still alive, more importantly campaigning vigorously for the House of Representatives election. It’s outrageous, I am yet to recover from this man’s inhumanity to man and the agony it inflicted on my family which has affected my business.”
