Seven SWC Members Of PDP To Join APC – APC Chairman
-We Won’t Dignify APC With Response- PDP
Not less than seven members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State have concluded arrangements to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The State Chairman of APC, Ade Adetimehin who disclosed yesterday said the opposition PDP would be decapitated before next year’s governorship election in the state.
Adetimehin told reporters during a reception held for the Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial district Niyi Adegbonmire that the PDP has been decimated in the state.
The state APC Chairman said the meeting has no political undertone but to chart a way forward for the senatorial district.
According to him, the Governorship position has been zoned to the southern senatorial district of the state “so anyone from the Central or the North districts still thinking of becoming the state governor now is wasting his or her time.”
Adetimehin described Adegbomire as the darling of APC not only in Ondo State but also in Nigeria.
His words “Amongst the 109 Senators in Nigeria, Adegbomire is the only one who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN and has not allowed that to go into his head. He has been conducting his parliamentary assignments with utmost respect and diligence. He has brought his wealth of experience to bear in attending to national issues.”
“We are lucky to have you at the Central senatorial district and I can assure you that Adegbomire will continue to give good representation.”
He enjoined journalists to always be balanced in their reports so as not to heat the polity.
However, the PDP spokesperson, Hon Kennedy Peretei said he would not dignify Adetimehin with a response.
Peretei said the statement coming from the APC chairman was a figment of his imagination which does not deserve any response from the PDP.
