2023: PDP Asks Osun Residents To Reject APC Candidates
The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has outlined reasons why the people of Osun State should reject the candidates of the opposition party All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections, saying the state has witnessed “an unprecedented level of underdevelopment, economic sabotage, inhumane policies among others in the twelve years of their regressive tenure”.
In a statement signed by the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the PDP, Dr Akindele Adekunle expressed confidence in the ability of the people of Osun State to remember albeit regrettably what they went through under the turbulent years of APC mal-administration in the affairs of the state having experience a new lease of life under the PDP’s administration led by the people’s Governor, the hero of Osun masses, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke in just under 90 days in office.
“The people of Osun have no doubt resolved to vote out all the candidates of the APC in the forthcoming election, they did not forget how the good for nothing Apc squandered their collective resources for the past 12 years with little or no development to show for it,.
The Civil servants and pensioners remembered years of unpaid Salaries and gratuities by the past administration, Osun people remembered high level of infrastructural decay under the past administration despite leaving the state with humongous debt, the masses remembered how the past administration under Gboyega Oyetola hid palliatives meant for the people during the Covid-19 lockdown, a period where even privileged private citizens came together and provided welfare packages to ameliorate the suffering brought to the people by the lockdown”, the statement noted.
He however expressed satisfaction in the programmes being embarked upon by Governor Ademola Adeleke since the beginning of his administration which targets all the sectors and people of the state of diverse status, background, geographical location or political affiliation.
“I am glad that Governor Ademola Adeleke has hit the ground running despite the many challenges his administration inherited by the rogue administration of Gboyega Oyetola, the people have started experiencing the differences, from road rehabilitation, provision of quality health care, provision of portable water, welfare packages to Civil servants and Pensioners among other many developmental policies already highlighted”.
He added that these and many others could explain why the APC keep losing membership on a daily basis and can already read the handwriting clearly on the walls during the current electioneering campaign where the people have resolved to close their eyes to their campaigns across the state and most notably the so called Presidential Mega rally recently held where they had to import people from neighboring APC states.
“The people have rejected the evil party APC, everywhere they go for campaign, only remnants of their enslaved members come out to meet them, even their Presidential rally where their self acclaimed “Emi-lokan” came to tell the students of Osun State that their academic tenure under his Presidency which remains a pipe dream would now be 8 years, they had to import people from neighboring APC states like Ekiti, Kwara, Ondo, Ogun and even relatively far away Lagos state”.
“We are proud of Osun people and urge them to remain steadfast in rejecting the APC candidates at all levels and elect peoples’ oriented candidates of the PDP who have been carefully and democratically selected across the constituencies to boslter the good works of Governor Ademola Adeleke in transforming the fortune of the State no matter the level of intimidation from the better forgotten opposition party, APC in the state.” He concluded.
